FORT WORTH — With a state tournament berth on the line in the final seconds of an absolute thriller Saturday afternoon, Coppell called on its superstar, senior guard Julianna 'Jules' LaMendola, to make one last sensational play. The four-star Indiana signee delivered once again, double-teaming Little Elm star Amarachi Kimpson on a length-of-the-court drive toward the basket and forcing a traveling call with Coppell clinging to a two-point lead. LaMendola was then fouled with 0.3 seconds left and hit the two game-clinching free throws to send Coppell to the UIL girls basketball state tournament for the first time ever with a 51-47 win in the Class 6A Region I final at the Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center.
